Hello and welcome! I am a Master's level therapy practicum student and doctoral candidate in clinical psychology at Kansas City University. My journey to becoming a clinical psychologist is driven by a desire to help others and make a positive impact in their lives. I have previously worked in inpatient psychiatric care, residential substance use, and forensic settings. My interests are in health psychology, substance use, trauma, and military psychology.
My approach to therapy focuses on empathy, understanding, open communication, and evidence-based practices. Thus, my goals are to work together to highlight your individual strengths and build resilience, with the intention of empowering you to overcome life's obstacles and cultivate positive change. I am genuine and approach situations with empathy and understanding. I am also able to build rapport quickly and work to create a comfortable environment so that you can share whatever is on your mind without fear of judgement. I believe that treatment approaches are best tailored to the individual, which means that your life goals and needs within the therapeutic space are of utmost importance.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, trying new
restaurants to find new favorites, taking weekend trips to new locations, and taking my
dog, Goose, for walks. I also enjoy trying new craft-related hobbies, antiquing, and
reading a wide variety of books.
Karsen accepts sliding scale and self pay clients. Her first sessions is FREE. Additional sessions are $30 for individual sessions and $40 for couples/family sessions.
